This is a very vibrant print of the circus by French Impressionist, Martin Dufy. Nicely matted with a beautiful gold frame .Dufy was born in Le Havre om 1888, the 7th of 11 children. He was the brother of Raul Dufy. Light was his main focus, and was very essential to him as an artist. In 1914 began his water colors. In 1916, for 30 years, he decorated porcelain for Theodore Haviland in Limoges He returned to Paris in 1920 after the war. He settled in Montmartre where Georges Broque was his neighbor. He was a very accomplished artist. He died in 1964. Some of his art can be seen at The Art Institure in Chicago.
